Hospice Staff Educator RN, full time
Position Summary: Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Organization’s Hospice orientation and education programs.
Compensation based on experience $83,200 - $104,000 per year
Functions & Responsibilities:
- Assists in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the Hospice orientation programs, making appropriate recommendations and/or revisions.
- Serves as a clinical resource for all Hospice field staff and preceptors offering direction, consultation and orientation to new procedures and equipment as the need arises.
- Performs on-site support and orientation to all Hospice field staff concerning general skill competency based on individual position descriptions.
- Assists the Quality & Compliance Officer and /or Hospice Clinical Director in identifying and meeting the needs for ongoing educational programs, based on the learning needs assessment and other internal indicators.
- Participates in providing direct Hospice staff training in the office and in patient’s homes utilizing innovative techniques to disseminate information to staff and ensure staff competency.
- Serves as a resource to Hospice staff in planning educational programs.
- Demonstrates the ability to make decisions independently recognizes complex situations and is able to identify key or underlying issues for problem resolution.
- Adheres to professional standards of practice and Hospice policies and procedures that reflect quality care and supports reimbursement.
- Attends educational programs and in-services to meet Hospice service needs and to develop professional growth.
- Participates in Hospice and other related committees as requested.
- Upholds the compliance objectives and policies and procedures of the Foundation and Subsidiaries.
Skills and Knowledge:
Education
- RN with Bachelor of Science in nursing or related field preferred.
- Licensed to practice in Massachusetts.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of Hospice nursing experience required.
- Knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation for Hospice required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in an educational role preferred.
- Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of education programs for health care professionals preferred.
- CHPN certification preferred
