Clinical Staff Educator, full time

Position Summary: Provides educational resources to all clinical staff concerning clinical competence. Maintains an area of clinical expertise relevant to home care clinical practice and integrates this knowledge into the care provided throughout the Agency.

Compensation based on experience $95,680 - $99,840 per year

Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Participates with hiring manager in the interview and selection process of applicants for clinical positions.
  • Uses individualized, evidence based education plans for each new clinician that allow the new clinician to apply classroom and self-learning to the care of patients in their homes.
  • Continually evaluates newly hired clinician’s performance through competency testing, joint visits, review of documentation and case conferences to ensure competence in regulatory and best practice standards.
  • Serves as a resource and mentor for preceptors in planning experience appropriate patient care activities for new clinicians and in giving newly hired clinician’s feedback about their progress and performance.
  • Teaches in the didactic portion of orientation.
  • Assists in the managing and updating of web based teaching/learning resources.
  • Provides on-site support and education to all clinical pods staff concerning clinical competence, including new procedures and equipment as needed.
  • Contributes to the content and implementation of annual clinical competencies.
  • Maintains an area of clinical expertise relevant to home care practice.
  • Integrates knowledge of this clinical area of expertise into practice at VNA.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the EMR application, agency policies and procedures and best practice standards.
  • Uses the performance evaluation process to reflect on his/her knowledge, skill and confidence as an educator and identifies areas for growth.
  • Upholds the compliance objectives and policies and procedures of the Foundation and Subsidiaries.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in clinical field (RN, OT, PT, SLP) or related experience in Home Health field preferred.
  • Licensed in Massachusetts.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience, 3 of which are recent home care required.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint and E-Learning modalities preferred.
